Lin Zexu

Lin Zexu was a Chinese statesman and diplomat who played a key role in the Opium Wars. He was born in 1785 and died in 1850. He is best known for his efforts to suppress the opium trade in China and his role in the First Opium War. He was also a prominent figure in the Taiping Rebellion. Lin Zexu is considered one of the most important figures in Chinese history.
