Lion Feuchtwanger was a German-Jewish novelist, playwright, and essayist. He is best known for his historical novels, particularly his trilogy about the Jewish community in 19th-century France. Feuchtwanger was a prominent figure in the Jewish community in Munich and was known for his activism against anti-Semitism. He fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s and lived in exile in France and the United States.
