Lionel Stander was an American actor, comedian, and radio producer. He is best known for his work in the film noir genre and as a radio host. Stander was born on May 31, 1908, in New York City to Jewish immigrant parents. He began his career in show business at a young age, performing stand-up comedy and acting in stage plays. During World War II, Stander served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. After the war, he transitioned to radio hosting and producing, becoming one of the most popular voices on classic American radio. Stander passed away on April 7, 1982, at the age of 73.
