British Army officer and colonial administrator
Lord Chelmsford was a British Army officer and colonial administrator who served as the commander of the British forces in Natal during the Zulu War. He was born in 1821 and died in 1904. Chelmsford was known for his military leadership and his role in the Battle of Isandlwana. He was also a skilled diplomat and negotiator, and played a key role in the negotiations with the Zulu chiefs.
