Louis Pasteur was a French chemist and microbiologist who made significant contributions to the fields of vaccination, pasteurization, and germ theory. He is best known for his work on the germ theory of disease, and his development of the first vaccines for rabies and anthrax. Pasteur was a prominent figure in the scientific community, and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1901. He is also known for his work on the spontaneous combustion of organic materials, and his development of the law of biogenesis.
