Sarah Breedlove, better known as Madame CJ Walker, was an African American entrepreneur and philanthropist who built a business empire in the early 20th century. Born in 1867 in Louisiana, Walker experienced poverty and hardship early in life, but she persevered and eventually became one of the wealthiest self-made women of her time. She developed a line of hair care products for African American women, which became incredibly successful. Walker was also a devoted philanthropist, supporting organizations that helped African American women and children. She was a trailblazer in many ways, paving the way for future generations of women entrepreneurs. Walker passed away in 1919, but her legacy lives on.
