French novelist and filmmaker
Marcel Pagnol was a French novelist, playwright, and filmmaker. He is best known for his novels and films that explored the lives of the working class in France. Pagnol was born in Arles, France, and began his writing career as a journalist. He later turned to fiction and wrote several novels, including "La Fille de l'air" and "César", which were adapted into films. Pagnol's work often dealt with themes of love, family, and social class. He was awarded the Grand Prix du Roman for his novel "La Fille de l'air". Pagnol died in 1985 at the age of 84.
