Philosopher and writer
María Zambrano was a Spanish philosopher and writer. She was the first woman to earn a doctorate in philosophy in Spain and was a prominent figure in the Spanish intellectual scene. She was known for her work on the philosophy of existence and the human condition. Zambrano was also a prolific writer and published several books on philosophy and literature. She was a close friend and mentor to many prominent Spanish intellectuals, including José Ortega y Gasset. She died in 1991 at the age of 95.
