Marian Anderson was an American opera singer who was known for her powerful voice and iconic performances. She was the first African American woman to sing at the Metropolitan Opera and was a trailblazer for women in opera. Anderson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began her career as a singer in the 1920s. She went on to perform with many of the world's leading opera companies and was awarded numerous honors for her contributions to the arts. Anderson passed away in 1993, but her legacy continues to inspire new generations of opera singers.
