Marie Tharp

Marie Tharp was a US geologist and cartographer who made significant contributions to the field of oceanography. She is best known for her work on the mapping of the ocean floor, which revolutionized our understanding of the Earth's geology. Tharp was one of the first women to work in the field of geology and was a pioneer for women in science. She was also a skilled cartographer and created many of the maps that are still used today.
