Marion Stokes was an American activist and archivist who dedicated her life to collecting and preserving news footage. She recorded over 750,000 hours of news footage from 1977 to 2012, making her one of the most prolific news archivists in history. Stokes was a self-taught filmmaker and used her recordings to create a unique archive of American history. She was also a vocal advocate for social justice and used her footage to raise awareness about important issues. Stokes passed away in 2012, but her archive continues to be celebrated and used by researchers and historians.
