Saint and queen
Matilda of Saxony was a queen of the East Franks and a saint in the Catholic Church. She was born in 967 and died in 1002. Matilda was known for her piety and her efforts to promote the Catholic faith in her kingdom. She was also a skilled politician and strategist, and played a key role in the politics of her time. Matilda was canonized as a saint in 1156 and is still revered today as a model of faith and devotion.
