Maya Annik Bedward

Maya Annik Bedward is a Haitian-American writer and director. She is best known for her feature documentary Black Zombie (2026), which explores the representation of Haitian Vodou in Hollywood films. Maya has a strong background in film and has worked on several projects in the documentary and narrative film genres. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and has received several awards for her work. Maya is a passionate advocate for greater representation and accuracy in film portrayals of Haitian culture.
