Israeli politician and Prime Minister
Menachem Begin was an Israeli politician and the sixth Prime Minister of Israel. He served from 1977 to 1983 and was a key figure in the country's early years. Begin was a strong advocate for Israel's right to exist and was a vocal critic of Arab nationalism. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 for his efforts to negotiate a peace treaty with Egypt. Begin was born in Poland and immigrated to Israel in the 1920s. He died in 1992 at the age of 77.
