NASA astronaut and engineer
Michael Lopez-Alegria is an American astronaut and engineer. He was born on March 9, 1959, in Havana, Cuba. Lopez-Alegria earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Miami and later earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California. He joined the U.S. Navy and later became a NASA astronaut. Lopez-Alegria has flown on four space shuttle missions and spent a total of 663 hours in space. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development for Axiom Space.
