Michael O. Leavitt is an American politician and physician. He served as the 16th Governor of Utah from 1993 to 2003 and as the 16th Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency from 2001 to 2003. Leavitt is also a former US Secretary of Health and Human Services, serving under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2006. He is known for his work on healthcare policy and his advocacy for conservative values. Leavitt has written several books on politics and healthcare, and has been a frequent commentator on national issues.
