Former President of the General National Congress
Mohamed Magariaf is a Libyan politician who served as the President of the General National Congress from 2012 to 2014. He was a key figure in the Libyan National Transitional Council and played a leading role in the country's transition to democracy after the fall of the Gaddafi regime. Magariaf was born in 1943 in Benghazi, Libya, and studied law at the University of Benghazi. He worked as a lawyer and politician before becoming involved in the Libyan opposition movement. Magariaf was a member of the Libyan National Congress and served as its president from 2008 to 2011.
