Egyptian writer and Nobel laureate
Naguib Mahfouz was an Egyptian writer and Nobel laureate, best known for his novels and short stories that explored the complexities of Egyptian society. He was born in 1911 and died in 2006. Mahfouz was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1988 for his contributions to modern Arabic literature. He is considered one of the most important writers of the 20th century, and his works have been translated into many languages.
