Author of To Kill a Mockingbird
Nelle Harper Lee was an American author best known for her novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Born in 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama, Lee grew up in a small town and was inspired by her childhood experiences. She attended the University of Alabama and later moved to New York City to pursue a career in writing. Lee's novel was published in 1960 and became a huge success, winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. However, she struggled with fame and pressure, and it took her decades to publish another book. Lee passed away in 2016 at the age of 89.
