Nick Joaquin was a Filipino writer and historian who is best known for his novel The House on Zapote Street. He was a prominent figure in Filipino literature and was awarded the National Book Award for his work. Joaquin was also a professor at the University of the Philippines and was known for his expertise on Filipino history and culture. He passed away in 2004.
