Nick Leeson is a British trader and banker who rose to prominence in the 1990s for his role in the collapse of Barings Bank. Born on December 8, 1960, in Singapore, Leeson began his career in finance at the age of 17. He worked for Barings Bank in Singapore and later became the head of the bank's Singapore office. Leeson's actions led to the collapse of the bank, resulting in a loss of over $1.4 billion. He was later convicted of fraud and sentenced to six years in prison. Leeson has since written several books about his experiences and has become a public figure in the world of finance.
