French astronomer and mathematician
Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille was a French astronomer and mathematician who made significant contributions to the field of astronomy. He is best known for his work on the classification of stars and his discovery of several new constellations. Lacaille was born in 1713 in Grasse, France and studied at the University of Aix. He went on to become a prominent figure in the scientific community, publishing several papers on astronomy and mathematics. Lacaille died in 1762 at the age of 49.
