Nita Lowey

Rep. Nita Lowey is a Democrat from New York. She has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1992 and has served on the House Appropriations Committee since 2001. She is the first woman to chair the committee since its creation in 1865. Lowey has been a strong advocate for women's rights and has worked to increase funding for education and healthcare. She has also been a vocal critic of the government shutdown and has worked to find solutions to the crisis.
