Editor of the Guinness Book of Records
Norris McWhirter was a British editor and writer, best known as the editor of the Guinness Book of Records. He was born on February 4, 1929, in London, England, and began his career as a journalist. McWhirter took over as editor of the Guinness Book of Records in 1966 and remained in the position until his death in 2004. During his tenure, he oversaw the publication of numerous editions of the book, which became a global phenomenon. McWhirter was also a prolific writer and published several books on various subjects. He was awarded an OBE for his services to publishing in 1999.
