Olaudah Equiano was a Nigerian-born British abolitionist, writer, and former slave. He is best known for his autobiography, which is considered one of the most influential works of the 18th century. Equiano was born into slavery in the 18th century and was eventually freed. He became a prominent figure in the abolitionist movement and was a key advocate for the end of slavery in the British Empire. He was also a successful author and entrepreneur, and was known for his oratory skills and his ability to inspire others to take action against slavery. Equiano died in 1797 at the age of 47.
