Olga Huckins

Olga Huckins was a private bird sanctuary owner who wrote an angry letter to Rachel Carson in 1958 about the effects of DDT on wildlife. Her letter was instrumental in inspiring Carson to write 'Silent Spring'. Huckins was a passionate advocate for wildlife conservation and was deeply concerned about the impact of pesticides on the environment. She was a private person and not much is known about her life beyond her letter to Carson.
