Former Pope
Pope Leo XIV was a Pope of the Catholic Church from 1823 to 1829. He was born Giuseppe Sarto and was the first Pope to take the name Leo XIV. During his papacy, he implemented various reforms and was known for his conservative views. He died in 1829 and was succeeded by Pope Pius VIII. Despite his relatively short papacy, Pope Leo XIV left a lasting legacy in the Catholic Church.
