Pat Garrett was an American lawman and sheriff who served in Lincoln County, New Mexico. He is best known for his role in the capture and killing of Billy the Kid. Garrett was a skilled marksman and lawman who served as sheriff of Lincoln County from 1879 to 1881. He is also known for his involvement in the Lincoln County War, a range war that took place in the late 1870s. Garrett's life has been the subject of several books, films, and TV shows. He is buried in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
