British gynaecologist and developer of IVF
Patrick Steptoe was a British gynaecologist and developer of in vitro fertilization (IVF). He was born in 1913 in London, England, and studied medicine at the University of London. He worked at the University of Oxford, where he conducted research on fertility and IVF. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2010 for his work on IVF, along with Robert Edwards. He was also a pioneer in the field of reproductive medicine and made significant contributions to our understanding of human reproduction.
