Paul Warren Tibbets Jr. is a retired United States Air Force major general and a veteran of World War II. He is best known for commanding the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945.
