Mathematician and historian of mathematics
Peter Hilton was a British mathematician and historian of mathematics who made significant contributions to the field of algebraic topology. He was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and was known for his work on the foundations of mathematics and the history of mathematical thought. Hilton was also a prolific writer and published numerous books on mathematics and its history. He was a fellow of the Royal Society and was awarded the De Morgan Medal for his contributions to mathematics.
