Travel writer and essayist
Pico Iyer is a travel writer and essayist known for his books on spirituality and solitude. Born in 1954 in India, he moved to the United States with his family at a young age. He has written for various publications, including The New York Times and The New Yorker. Iyer has also taught at several universities and has been a fellow at the Guggenheim Foundation. He is the author of several books, including 'The Global Soul' and 'The Art of Listening'. He has also written about his experiences in monasteries and convents, where he has found solace and inspiration. Iyer has been recognized for his work with several awards, including the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. He is currently a senior fellow at the Public Philosophy Project.
