French physicist and Nobel laureate
Pierre-Gilles de Gennes was a French physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1991 for his work on superfluidity. He is known for his research on the behavior of fluids and his contributions to the field of condensed matter physics. De Gennes was also a prominent figure in the development of the field of soft matter. He was born in 1932 and passed away in 2020. De Gennes was a professor at several institutions, including the École Polytechnique and the University of Paris. He was also a member of the French Academy of Sciences.
