Piet Retief

Piet Retief was a Voortrekker leader who played a key role in the Boer Wars. He was born in 1798 in the Netherlands and immigrated to South Africa in 1837. Retief became a leader in the Voortrekker movement and served as the president of the Transvaal Republic from 1848 to 1853. He was known for his bravery and leadership skills, and he is remembered as a hero in South African history.
