Roman Prefect of Judea
Pontius Pilate was a Roman Prefect of Judea who lived during the 1st century AD. He is best known for his role in the trial and execution of Jesus Christ. Pilate was born in Rome and rose through the ranks of the Roman military. He became prefect of Judea at the age of 40 and served for 14 years. During his tenure, Pilate implemented various reforms and maintained order in the region. However, his legacy is also marked by controversy, particularly with regards to his handling of the Jesus trial.
