Frontiersman and Mormon pioneer
Porter Rockwell was a frontiersman, Mormon pioneer, and close associate of Joseph Smith. He was born in 1804 in New York and moved to the American West in the 1820s. Rockwell was a skilled hunter and fighter, and he played a key role in the early history of the Mormon Church. He was also a close friend and bodyguard of Joseph Smith, and he was known for his bravery and loyalty. Rockwell died in 1874 at the age of 70.
