Primo Levi was an Italian Jewish writer, chemist, and Holocaust survivor. He was born on July 31, 1919, in Turin, Italy, and died on April 11, 1987, in Turin, Italy. Levi was a prominent figure in the Italian Resistance during World War II and was imprisoned in Auschwitz concentration camp from 1944 to 1945. After the war, he wrote several books, including his memoir "If This Is a Man", which is considered one of the most important works of Holocaust literature. Levi's writing often explored the human condition, morality, and the consequences of war. He is widely regarded as one of the most important Italian writers of the 20th century.
