Professor of History, Yale University
Richard Kagan is a professor of history at Yale University. He is a leading expert on early modern Spanish history and the history of the Spanish Empire. Kagan has written extensively on the Inquisition and its impact on Spanish Jewry. He is the author of several books on the subject, including "The Great Cat Massacre and Other Episodes in French Cultural History". Kagan has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Humanities Medal. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the American Historical Association. Kagan has taught at several universities, including Yale, Harvard, and the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently a professor of history at Yale University.
