Medieval queen and ruler
Queen Matilda was the daughter of King Henry I of England and Empress Matilda. She was born in 1102 and became queen in her own right in 1107. Matilda was a skilled politician and military leader who played a key role in the struggle for power in medieval England. She was also a patron of the arts and architecture, and her court was known for its cultural and intellectual achievements. Matilda died in 1167 and was buried in the abbey of Holy Trinity in Caen, France.
