Rabindranath Tagore was a Bengali polymath, poet, philosopher, and playwright. He is best known for being the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Born in 1861 in Calcutta, India, Tagore was a key figure in the Bengali Renaissance. He was also a skilled musician and composer. Tagore's works include the famous poem 'Gitanjali'. He was a strong advocate for Indian independence and was a key figure in the Indian independence movement.
