Rachel Gilmer is an organizer with and the Co-Director of the Dream Defenders, a statewide grassroots organization of communities across Florida. The Dream Defenders were established in 2012 in response to the unjust murder of 17-year old Trayvon Martin. Gilmer has been a key figure in the organization's efforts to promote social justice and human rights in Florida.
