Factory collapse in Bangladesh
Rana Plaza was a garment factory in Bangladesh that collapsed on April 24, 2013, killing 1,134 people and injuring over 2,000. The collapse was one of the deadliest industrial accidents in history and led to widespread outrage and calls for improved labor laws and safety regulations in the garment industry. The Rana Plaza disaster also led to the formation of the Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety, a coalition of NGOs and trade unions that works to improve working conditions and labor rights in the garment industry.
