Rabbinic commentator and scholar
Rav Ovadiah Sforno was a 16th-century Italian rabbi and commentator on the Torah. He is best known for his commentary on the book of Shmuel, which is still studied today. Sforno was born in 1475 in Mantua, Italy, and died in 1550. He was a prominent figure in the Jewish community in Mantua and was known for his wisdom and scholarship. Sforno's commentary on the Torah is considered one of the most important works of Jewish scholarship in the Renaissance period.
