Richeldis de Faverches was a 11th-century noblewoman who played a significant role in the establishment of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. According to legend, she prayed to the Virgin Mary for a special work in honour of Our Lady, which was answered by the Virgin herself. De Faverches is often referred to as the 'foundress' of the shrine. Little is known about her life beyond her association with the shrine.
