Robert Browning was a British poet and playwright who was born in 1812 and died in 1889. He is best known for his dramatic monologues, which explore the human condition and the complexities of human nature. Browning was a prominent figure in the Victorian era and was known for his innovative use of language and form. Browning was a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and was awarded the Order of Merit for his contributions to literature.
