Robert Francis Prevost Martínez

Robert Francis Prevost Martínez is a Peruvian-American Catholic priest. He is the first pontiff of Latin American descent and the first American-born pope. He was born in 1953 in the United States and became a priest in 1982. He served as the bishop of the Diocese of Chiclayo in Peru from 2001 to 2008. He was elected pope in 2023.
