Robert Swan Mueller III

Robert Swan Mueller III was an American lawyer and public servant who served as the sixth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2001 to 2013. He graduated from Princeton University and New York University and served as a Marine Corps officer during the Vietnam War. Mueller was a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School and was admitted to the bar in the state of New York. He was a prominent figure in American law enforcement and was known for his leadership and integrity. Mueller was also a decorated war hero, receiving a Bronze Star for heroism and a Purple Heart. He passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 81.
