Ruby Bridges is an American civil rights activist and artist. She became famous at the age of six for being the first African American child to integrate a white school in the South, in 1960. Bridges has since become a prominent advocate for civil rights and social justice, and has written several books about her experiences. She has also exhibited her artwork in galleries and museums around the world.
