Saint Augustine of Hippo was a Christian philosopher and theologian who lived in the 4th and 5th centuries AD. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the development of Western Christianity. Augustine was born in Numidia, Roman Africa, and was educated in Carthage and Rome. He became a Christian at the age of 32, after a profound spiritual experience, and went on to become a prominent theologian and philosopher. Augustine's writings had a profound impact on Western thought, and he is still widely studied and revered today.
