French priest and founder of the Society of Jesus
Saint Claude Colombiere was a French priest and founder of the Society of Jesus, a Catholic order dedicated to spreading the Gospel and promoting spiritual growth. He was born in 1641 and entered the seminary at a young age. Claude was known for his extraordinary devotion to Jesus and his ability to communicate with God in a unique and powerful way. He received numerous apparitions and visions from Jesus, including the famous apparition of the Sacred Heart, which he believed was a call to spread the devotion to the world. Claude was a close friend and collaborator of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, and together they worked to develop the Sacred Heart Devotion. He died in 1682 and was canonized as a saint in 1855. He is still revered today as a model of spiritual devotion and a champion of the Sacred Heart Devotion.
